Reasons to Oppose Rezoning:
- The farm land is next to a Niederlander Lane neighborhood, senior residents at the Garden Manor Retirement Village and the children who attend Amanda elementary.
- There are two better locations for SunCoke to utilize:
A) AK Steel's New Miami blast furnace site that was closed in the 90's.
B) Behind the fence at the AK Steel plant.
- By rezoning the farm property, Middletown is in jeopardy of losing the 400 jobs at the Garden Manor Retirement Village.
- Home foreclosures and depressed property values are constantly in the news. Many are concerned that the rezoning to allow a new coke plant next to a residential neighborhood will negatively impact property values.
