behind the fence

Middletown & Monroe neighbors are concerned that the rezoning of farm land for a new SunCoke plant will forever change the residential neighborhood unnecessarily.

Reasons to Oppose Rezoning:

  1. The farm land is next to a Niederlander Lane neighborhood, senior residents at the Garden Manor Retirement Village and the children who attend Amanda elementary.

  2. There are two better locations for SunCoke to utilize:

    A) AK Steel's New Miami blast furnace site that was closed in the 90's.

    B) Behind the fence at the AK Steel plant.

  3. By rezoning the farm property, Middletown is in jeopardy of losing the 400 jobs at the Garden Manor Retirement Village.

  4. Home foreclosures and depressed property values are constantly in the news.  Many are concerned that the rezoning to allow a new coke plant next to a residential neighborhood will negatively impact property values.
